Celebrate 150 Years of Oswego at Reunion, with Founder
The Oswego Alumni Association will be celebrating 150 years of friends, memories, sunsets and fun this summer on the shores of Lake Ontario.
The Sesquicentennial Reunion Celebration recognizes "150 Years of Oswego," the theme for this year's event June 10 to 12. In addition to Reunion favorites like the "Welcome Back BBQ" at Fallbrook, picnic on the lake and Greeks and Friends Social, this year's special celebration includes a Friday night rock show sponsored by DKK 85th Anniversary at The Foundry and a few other surprises.
"Our volunteers have really come up with some wonderful ideas this year as always," said Betsy Oberst, associate vice president for alumni relations and stewardship. "We intend to make this one of the most memorable Reunion Weekends ever.
"Everyone from every class is invited to this very special event," she said. "And we hope to see many of them in addition to this year's milestone classes and mini-reunion groups."
Even those who can't make it to Oswego's big birthday bash can partake in 150th festivities by taking a picture with college founder Edward Austin Sheldon himself.
Alumni and friends are invited to download Flat Founder and snap a candid photo to share with Oswego enthusiasts the world over. One lucky photographer will receive $150 gift certificate to the College Store.
No matter how you celebrate, every graduate who has ever graced the halls of Oswego is invited to observe the college's noteworthy milestone at June's Reunion. There will also be special events planned for milestone anniversary reunion classes, including 1936, 1941, 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1986, 2001, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
In addition, Alpha Delta Eta, Alpha Epsilon Phi (25th anniversary), Alpha Sigma Chi, Arethusa, Beta Tau Epsilon, Delta Chi Omega/TKE, Delta Kappa Kappa (85th anniversary), men's wrestling, Omega Delta Phi, Phi Lambda Phi, Phi Sigma Phi, Pi Delta Chi, Psi Phi Gamma, Riggs Hall, Sigma Gamma, Sodus Migrant Project and Theta Chi Rho have special events planned.
Meanwhile, the 50th, 25th and 10th anniversary classes are competing for the Reunion Giving Participation Cup. The class that gets the most members to participate in special fundraising efforts for a collective gift to the college will win.
