Alumni, Friends Invest Nearly $3 Million in Oswego
The Fund for Oswego raised $2,981,548 with the help of 6,989 alumni, faculty, staff, emeriti, parents and friends from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011.
"As we celebrate our college's historic 150th birthday, we are inspired by the generous support and sound investment in our students' futures," said Kerry Casey Dorsey '81, vice president of development and alumni relations. "Gifts to The Fund for Oswego are making an immediate and positive impact on the lives of our students."
For example, Amber-Lee Jansen '12 came to Oswego to pursue journalism, but now uses her pen to write poetry as a creative writing major. She says she would not have discovered her passion if it weren't for the wide variety of courses offered here.
Jonathan Kuracina '11 said his student-teaching placement committed him to a lifetime of working with children. Jonathan came to Oswego from Ontario to play soccer, but his larger goal in life is to guide curious young minds to new discoveries.
"The Fund for Oswego supports Oswego's ever-expanding array of academic programs," Dorsey said. "That means more opportunities, more meaningful discoveries and a brighter future for all of our students."
