Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award - The alumni association’s most prestigious award, it honors outstanding professional achievement with national and/or international recognition and demonstrated involvement in community and/or civic affairs. Previous recipients include: Al Roker ’76, Today Show weathercaster and feature reporter; His Excellency Heraldo Munoz ’72, Chilean ambassador to Brazil; Ken Auletta ’63, New Yorker Magazine columnist and best-selling author; Alice McDermott ‘75, best-selling author and recipient of the 1998 National Book Award for Fiction; Sanford Miller ‘75, Chairman and CEO of Budget Group, Inc.
Anniversary Class Award - Honors the outstanding professional and community service accomplishments of Oswego alumni in their anniversary/reunion year. New in 1994, this award is intended to bring recognition to one or more accomplished persons who will be celebrating a reunion.
Alumni Service Award - Designed to honor alumni for outstanding service generously given to the college, the Alumni Association, our students.
Lifetime Award of Merit - Designed to honor alumni who have made unique contributions to Oswego as well as extraordinary contributions in community service and professional endeavors over many years.
Sheldon Award for Excellence in Education - This award pays tribute to the founder of the college while recognizing alumni who have demonstrated outstanding career achievements in the field of education at any grade level as a teacher or educational administrator. The recipient will also demonstrate significant involvement in the area of community service.
GOLD Award - Awarded to graduates of the last decade who have achieved career success and demonstrated significant volunteer service to their communities and/or the Oswego Alumni Association, Inc. or the college.
