Tour Guide

Year: Junior
Major: Psychology
Hometown: Jackson Heights, NY

1. Have you participated in any internships or overseas study programs?
I traveled to London my freshman year, during spring break. I took a quarter course class on the history of London, and then went there for a week. It was a great trip and a wonderful experience, even with the daily rain.

2. What activities are you involved with at Oswego?
I am an RA on campus, I volunteer with Adopt-A-Grandparent, and I was a Peer Educator for a semester

3. Why did you choose Oswego?
The college offered hundreds of opportunities. There were so many majors and programs to choose from, the location, given the lake, was gorgeous, the study abroad programs were very appealing, and everyone seemed so friendly. I really liked that everything on campus was basically in one location.

4. What is the best thing about your major?
I think that the best thing about my major is the involvement of the professors. They are always offering information about meetings, research, and grad school information. Also, there are so many different directions that someone with a psychology degree can take.

5. Generally speaking, what impact has the Oswego faculty had on you?
Everyone is willing to help. They see everyone as an individual and always take the time to make sure that everyone’s issues are thoroughly solved.

6. What's the best thing about SUNY Oswego?
The best thing about SUNY Oswego is the population. I have yet to meet someone who didn’t have friends, and walking around campus always feel like a mini-reunion, because of all the people you run into. Strong bonds are formed quickly, and everyone has a lot of fun.

7. Comment on how your Oswego experience has helped prepare you for a career.
Oswego has taught me to be a lot more professional that I was prior to college. I have learned a lot about interviews, about professional etiquette, and how to obtain the opportunities I want in the best way.

8. What opportunities has Oswego given you that you never had before?
Oswego has given me the opportunity to make many wonderful friends, to have many late night conversations, and to attend some very exciting hockey games.
