What activities are you involved with at Oswego? I’m a Resident Mentor in Johnson Hall, a Peer Advisor for Undeclared students, and an Intern in the Admissions office.
Why did you choose Oswego? There isn’t just one reason why I chose Oswego, but mainly when I visited the campus it just felt right.
What is the best thing about your major? I
love the Psychology department. I believe that the Psychology program
is very hands on and gives students endless opportunities. However, I
believe that the best thing about my major would have to be all of the
amazing and dedicated professors that I have had the honor or working
with. I believe that all of the Psychology professors are incredible
and wish to see each student excel to their highest potential.
Generally speaking, what impact has the Oswego faculty had on you? Oswego
has a ton of great faculty members who are ready to go to extreme
lengths for you; it really is a wonderful feeling. Specifically, the
Residence Life and Housing staff has truly impacted my life and has
made me believe that I can accomplish anything.
Who's your favorite professor and why? My
favorite professor would be Vic Licatese. He is extremely knowledgeable
in the field of Psychology and has such a fun and effective way of
teaching. His excitement for Psychology is one of the main reasons why
I became a Psychology major.
Describe your department's atmosphere and how it has enhanced your ability to learn. The
Psychology department is very hands on. Over my few years here I’ve
conducted and participated in many experiments that have prepared me
greatly for my future.
What's the best thing about SUNY Oswego? From
my experience, I believe that the best thing about SUNY Oswego would be
the First Year Residential Experience program housed in Johnson Hall.
The FYRE program is a unique program for freshmen that has shown
extremely high retention rates and has made many freshmen feel
comfortable from day one.
Comment on how your Oswego experience has helped prepare you for a career. All
of my involvement at Oswego has greatly helped me prepare for my
future. I’ve had many opportunities to lead and strengthen my abilities
in many ways. All of these opportunities could really help me in any career path.
What opportunities has Oswego given you that you never had before? My
Resident Mentor position in Johnson Hall has given me great
opportunities to interact with many different people and help them in
different ways. Such experiences will really help me in my future with Psychology.
