The best way to learn about SUNY Oswego is to visit. Your visit will include a student-guided campus tour, speaking with admissions counselors and, most importantly, getting a feel for campus life. Year-round visit options, described below, include group information programs, academic information programs, admitted student days, open house events, individual appointments and more. Reservations are necessary for all programs, so register online, or call us at 315.312.2250 during business hours.

We currently offer individual appointments Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Call 315.312.2250 to arrange an appointment.

Group Information Programs

  • During the academic year, we offer Information Programs at 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, leaving from 229 Sheldon Hall. On select Fridays and Saturdays, Information Programs are offered at 1 p.m. in Sheldon Hall.
  • We offer Summer Information Programs at 10 a.m., Monday and Wednesday, or 1 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, leaving from 229 Sheldon Hall. Friday Information Programs will also include complimentary ice cream for all visitors following the campus tour!
    Note: Summer Open House will be held on July 9, 2010.
    • Each program generally lasts about two and a half hours.
    • Check-in for all programs begins 30 minutes in advance.
    • Programs include a short video, a presentation from an admissions counselor and a student-guided campus tour.

Fall semester programs will begin mid-September and run through early-December. Spring semester programs will begin mid-February and run until early-May.

These information programs are offered, in the spring semester only, for admitted students and their families. They provide excellent opportunities to tour the Oswego campus, meet faculty in your area of interest and learn about the many possibilities offered through these academic majors.

Admitted Student Days

Check-in for the Admitted Student Days begin 30 minutes in advance.

The Admitted Student Days are designed for high school seniors and transfer students who have been accepted or for those who have applied and have yet to receive a decision.  These events are not mandatory for admitted students; they are designed to help students decide if Oswego is the right choice for them.  The Admitted Student Days will include an opportunity to speak with faculty as well as hear from Residence Life and Housing, First Year Programs and Financial Aid. Campus information tables and a student-guided campus tour will also be available.

Our Columbus and Veterans' Day open house programs include campus tours, special information sessions, interaction with faculty from many of Oswego's over 50 undergraduate programs and the chance to speak with students from various campus clubs and organizations.

Our Fall Saturday and  Summer Open House programs offer presentations by faculty and admissions counselors, a student-guided campus tour, as well as the opportunity to meet with representatives from Career Services, International Education and Experienced-Based Education (internships).  Presentations regarding financial aid and our first-year academic and advisement programs are also offered.

The Open House for high school Juniors includes presentations about admissions, financial aid, first year programs, and residence life and dining.  An information fair and campus tour is also available.

Individual Appointments

Individual appointments are available Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. You and your family can take a student-guided campus tour and meet with an admissions counselor throughout the year. Call 315.312.2250 to arrange an appointment.

Student Host Program

An overnight stay, hosted by a student volunteer, is available Sunday through Thursday nights during much of the academic year (mid-September through mid-November and mid-February through mid-April -- excluding college vacations). Prospective students stay in a residence hall room then attend classes the next day with their host. Please call at least two weeks in advance for a reservation or you can mail or fax this application (12KB pdf) to the Office of Admissions. Upon reservation, a confirmation packet will be sent with additional information.
