Have you participated in any internships or overseas study programs?
I had an internship at St Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, NY under the events coordinator helping plan the annual golf fundraiser for the year in the summer of 2011. I spent 2 months studying abroad in Florence, Italy during the summer of 2013. During my time in Italy I traveled up and down the coast and even made it to Switzerland! I also interned with Senator Schumer for the rest of my summer of 2013. While interning I worked alongside Senator Schumer in press conferences, dealing with constituents and helping out with media reports.
How has your internship or study abroad experience enhanced your education?
The most important aspect I took away from my internships was the experience! I was fortunate enough to have an internship within my marketing field, and one a little out of my spectrum of study. Having these opportunities to intern in a work environment, is priceless and extremely fulfilling. My time studying abroad, was truly life changing. I have been planning on studying abroad since I was a freshmen, so taking the plunge to do it was a dream come true! Living and learning the culture from another country, humbled me and made me appreciate simple things in life that I had before overlooked. I encourage every student to take the plunge to study abroad!
What activities are you involved with at Oswego?
I am a member of ENACTUS, Mentor Oswego, outdoors club, active minds and AMA, the American Marketing Association.
Why did you choose Oswego?
I choose Oswego because I loved the campus. I looked into the academic programs and learned that they had a strong business and education school, the two schools I was interested in. I loved that the school is right on beautiful Lake Ontario, and I realized early on that Oswego had so many opportunities compared to other college and that this was the place for me.
What is the best thing about your major?
The best part about my major is that I get to do what I love. I love working with people and I love promoting things I feel strong about.
Generally speaking, what impact has the Oswego faculty had on you?
The Oswego faculty is so dedicated. They have had a large impact on me because they have opened my eyes to all kinds of opportunities within my major that I was not aware of before. I have made great relationships with them and know that if I need help I can go to them.
Who's your favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor was. Dr. Kenneth Shaw. Dr. Shaw is a professor of Marketing. I like him because I found his class to be very interesting, and he really made me realize that I was in the right major.
Why do you like your education department?
The department is very professional but at the same time warm and welcoming. It is a good combination of the two.
What's the best thing about SUNY Oswego?
The best thing about Oswego is the atmosphere. The students, the faculty, the lake, walking to class, everything together and just the feeling of the campus is what makes it great.
