Year: Sophomore
Major: Public Relations
Hometown: Watertown, NY

What activities are you involved with at Oswego?
I am active in PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America), as well as WNYO, the radio station here on campus.

Why did you choose Oswego?
I chose Oswego because I wanted to give myself endless options for my future and Oswego gives me that opportunity.

What is the best thing about your major?
The best thing about my major is how practical, yet specialized it is. Things I learn in my classes make a big impact on my relationships with friends and family, and also prepare me to be the best I can be in the Public Relations world.

Generally speaking, what impact has the Oswego faculty had on you?
The faculty here has helped me realize how important education is. The faculty has also shown that learning goes beyond the classroom and the things that we talk about in class can be used in everyday life and in everyday situations. Overall, the faculty has helped me prepare for the real world.

Who's your favorite professor and why?
It's a two way tie between Rob Scott and Steve Granelli. They make it easy to be a favorite of mine: before class, I am excited to go, during class, I am having fun, and after class, I leave feeling confident and of course, with a big smile.

Describe your department's atmosphere and how it has enhanced your ability to learn.
I love my department! They are down to earth, and go out of their way to help you. They are constantly telling you about internships, workshops, job openings, ways to study efficiently, etc.

What's the best thing about SUNY Oswego?
The best thing about SUNY Oswego is the atmosphere! What makes SUNY Oswego so great is the people that you are with on a daily basis. Not only are the professors amazing, but any person that you encounter on campus will make you feel like you are at home. Everyone is happy and ready to help you in any way that they can, and that is what makes the atmosphere on campus so amazing.

Comment on how your Oswego experience has helped prepare you for a career.
The amount of opportunities and experiences that are provided to you are endless. There are so many ways to get involved on campus that make it so easy for you to get a feel for the job or career that you are trying to get. The various clubs and organizations that are at Oswego make it easy to create connections and network with different people.

What opportunities has Oswego given you that you never had before?
Oswego has given me the opportunity to meet people from a variety of different places. More specifically, working in the Admissions department has allowed me to connect with prospective students and help make their college decision a little easier. I feel like I am able to connect with people and help them to make a great college decision by coming to SUNY Oswego. It is a rewarding experience when I hear from someone that I am a big reason as to why they chose to attend Oswego.
