Financial Aid Office

Alternative Loans

Oswego is very concerned with student borrowing.  Our goal is to help students and families understand the options available to them and then provide help and support during the application process.

There are non-federal loans available for students to apply for.  These are often referred to as private or alternative educational loans.  If a student is considering one of these loans, we recommend they contact our office to speak with a loan counselor.  These loans typically have higher interest rates, have a greater up-front fee and repayment terms that are not as favorable as federal loans.
