Early application initiatives

This spring the financial aid office is encouraging students to apply for financial aid as early as possible.

We have done the following:

• Emails will go to all students informing them of the need to apply early and giving them instructions on how to do it. You can view the Apply Now page, which includes links to important sites.
• Voice mails will be put on all on-campus student phones, reminding them to apply early.
• Postcards will be sent to students' permanent addresses reminding them to apply for financial aid and giving them instructions on how to apply electronically. We hope this will be a good reminder for parents.

Many students and parents have thanked us for the reminder and the helpful instructions.

Application process changes

The financial aid office has developed new materials which better inform students of the process for obtaining financial aid. In developing the new literature it is our hope:

• Students will be able to obtain the same information whether they contact the office on the Web, by coming to the office, or by requesting information be sent to them.
• Students will know what the “Next Step” they need to take is, no matter what point in the process they are at. Materials were developed with instructions that identify where students are in the process and what they will need to do next.
• Many procedural changes have been made to enhance office efficiency and student service.
