It is time to apply for 2008-2009. 

If you plan to attend Oswego State next year, you  should apply as soon as possible and no later than March 1, 2008  for the 2008-2009 school year. Follow the instructions and use the links below.

Use the instructions below as a checklist in completing the application process. If you apply right away and follow  these instructions, your chances of having trouble obtaining  financial aid are greatly reduced!

If you plan to attend summer 2008, you should:

1. Complete the FAFSA process now. Follow the instructions below:
   • Obtain the 2008 Summer School Information Form from the Financial Aid Office.  You can download (PDF 111k) this form from our website after March 15, 2008.
2. Use the following instructions to assure your financial aid is processed as quickly and accurately as possible. We encourage you to take advantage of the electronic application process.

Apply for Financial Aid

1. Obtain a Federal PIN - go to www.pin.ed.gov
   • If you have a PIN and don't remember it, they will resend it to you from this website.
   • Allow 2-4 days for your PIN to be e-mailed to you.
   • If you use parent's information on your application, both you and your parent should obtain a PIN.
     NOTE:  You can file the FAFSA electronically without a PIN. To do so, when you are completing the FAFSA, make sure to print out the signature page and send it in to the address it will give you. You need to send it in within 48 hours if you do not use a PIN
2. Collect 2007 income and asset information
   • If you haven't filed taxes yet and don't plan to before March 1, we recommend you use estimated information on the FAFSA.
3. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
   • Go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and click on the appropriate option.
     • If you have applied in previous years, you would click on Fill out a Renewal FAFSA.
     • If this is your first time completing a FAFSA, click on Fill out a FAFSA.
     • You will be completing the 2008-2009 Version.
     • The Oswego State Federal Title IV code is 002848
4. Complete the TAP ETA (Express TAP Application)
   • When you finish the FAFSA, you will be given the opportunity to complete the New York State TAP application. Click on the message for New York State Residents and follow the instructions to complete the Electronic TAP Application.
   • If for some reason you do not complete the Electronic TAP application, a paper application will be mailed to you to complete.
