What activities are you involved with at Oswego?
I was a volunteer tour guide for three semesters; I dance with the Del Sarte Dance Club, and am involved in the Accounting Society on campus. I plan on applying to Business Honor Societies when I am eligible to do so, as well.
Why did you choose Oswego?
Oswego was all around the best choice for me, from the outstanding AACSB Accredited School of Business to the many other opportunities that SUNY Oswego has to offer. Also, the friendly environment combined with a campus that overlooks beautiful Lake Ontario I knew this is where I wanted to spend my next four or five years.
What is the best thing about your major?
The best thing about being an Accounting major is the great faculty and staff I have got the opportunity to meet and work with. I have learned so much about the business and accounting fields, as well as, what to expect going into the real world of business.
Generally speaking, what impact has the Oswego faculty had on you?
The faculty at Oswego are all willing to go above and beyond what they need to in order to help their students. They are always willing to meet with students outside of class if they need extra help and don't hesitate to answer any questions that students might have. This has really had an impact on the overall learning environment and has been a key role in my academic success so far at SUNY Oswego.
Who's your favorite professor and why?
Professor Andrea Pagano of the Accounting Department. She is very passionate about her field and is always sharing her first hand experiences that she has gained from her previous jobs and internships. For me, as an accounting major, I really enjoy learning how what we are taught in class will apply to real world situations.
Describe your department's atmosphere and how it has enhanced your ability to learn.
The atmosphere of the School of Business is always such a welcoming and friendly environment. Professors are always willing to help and share their real life experiences, which really helps when preparing for a career.
What's the best thing about SUNY Oswego?
The best thing about Oswego is all the opportunities that they have to offer to their students. From over 150 clubs and organizations available to join to the excellent study abroad programs offered, Oswego is the perfect place to get you involved in your community and help prepare you for your career.
Comment on how your Oswego experience has helped prepare you for a career.
The interesting classes, excellent faculty and all of the clubs that I have the opportunity to join in order to gain experience in Accounting, have all begun to prepare me for my career. In the next two years I also plan to take advantage of Oswego's Co-Op program or other internships in order to gain experience and help to further prepare me for my career.
What opportunities has Oswego given you that you never had before?
Oswego has given me the opportunity to strengthen my public speaking and interpersonal skills by having the opportunity of becoming a tour guide. I have learned many useful skills that will benefit me in my future careers.
