ID Standards Guide

Q. What are the guidelines for using the college logo? Where can I get a copy of the logo?

A. The Graphic Identity Guide is available online in PDF format, or you may request a printed copy from the Office of Publications. Letterhead templates and official college logotypes are also available online and by request from the Office of Publications. See: Graphic Identity Guide, Logotype Downloads, or Contact Us.

Q. Who does the Office of Publications do work for?

A. The Office of Publications is here to assist SUNY Oswego's faculty and staff with college-related printed publications. Our in-house design shop offers affordable single-color offset printing as well as business color copies and B&W copies. Our staff can aid in planning and design — whether your printed pieces is produced in-house or off-campus.

Q. Can I order business cards?

A. The Office of Publications supports the new campus standard business card format. Campus faculty and staff may request cards. See: Campus business card order form & pricing guide.

Q. How much does the Office of Publications charge for services?

A. Each job is individual in specifications and finishing details. Our design services are free to many members of the campus community. You pay only for materials used and printing services. Please call for an estimate (315.312.3130).

Q. How far ahead of my deadline should I meet with the Office of Publications to plan a production schedule?

A. A general rule of thumb for the offset press is four weeks, depending on the job. Plan on one to five days for duplication. Please review our planning guide and then call for scheduling (315.312.3130).

See: Guidelines for more specifics on scheduling for different goals.

Q. What if I miss a production schedule deadline?

A. The Office of Publications needs to receive job assets in a timely manner which is agreed upon in the production schedule. All assets should be complete and final. Untimely changes or delays of job assets may result in a delay of more than the equivalent days in production time.

Q. What is "camera-ready" art?

A. Camera-ready means that the job is designed and set up by someone outside the Office of Publications to meet our specifications for printing. Offset jobs may be submitted on disk along with hard copy for output to negative. High-quality PDF files are the prefered format for camera-ready art.

See: Camera-ready Art; Press Specifications; Duplicator Specifications.

Q. Does the Office of Publications handle addressing and mailing?

A. For personalized faculty and staff mailing labels, contact the Human Resources Office. Labeling is the responsibility of the project originator.

Q. Can I have personal jobs printed here?

A. The Publications Department, as a matter of college policy, cannot run personal work on college equipment.

Q. How does the Office of Publications charge for work done?

A. Most billing is to state account numbers and is done as a journal transfer. A copy of the bill is sent to the billed department. Non-state accounts are billed directly with checks made payable to "College Publications."

Q. Can I reproduce copyrighted material for educational use?

A. You may use copyrighted material with written permission from the Publisher on their letterhead. See: Copyright for the Campus Community
