OSWEGO STATE ART FACULTY
TO EXHIBIT RECENT WORK
OSWEGO -- Oswego State's Tyler Art Gallery will open two exhibitions Oct. 6: the Art Department Faculty Exhibition and "The Art of Serigraphy: Selected Prints from the Permanent Collection."
Faculty of the Oswego State art department will exhibit their most recent work at Tyler Art Gallery from Oct. 6 through 26. The public is invited to meet the artists at an opening reception to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.
The Art Department Faculty Exhibition will feature paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculpture, photography, ceramics, prints, computer-generated graphics and watercolors produced by familiar members of the art department as well as new faculty.
"The Art of Serigraphy: Selected Prints from the Permanent Collection" will be on view through Nov. 5. From a single layer of color screening to more complex multiple layers, the serigraph, also known as screenprint or silkscreen, will be featured in this exhibition.
Thirty prints, selected from the college's collection of art, will reveal the many aesthetic approaches to the medium, engaging the technique of a single image to the formation of a collage effect. The exhibition will include prints by such artists as Thomas Seawell, Paul Kotwica, Denise Lisiecki, Shirley Ng, Scot Bennett, Santiago Morales, Leo Bates, James Mullen and Lester Johnson.
"The Art of Serigraphy" will replace the previously announced exhibition "American Venus: Audrey Munson," which is not available. Even though there is a change in the exhibition schedule, the gallery talk about Audrey Munson will still take place.
The public is welcome to hear Justin White, Oswego County records clerk, speak on the topic, "Rediscovering the American Venus: The Amazing Life of Audrey Munson." His talk will be held in Tyler Art Gallery at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Events and programs at Tyler Art Gallery are free and open to the public.
Persons with disabilities, seeking accommodations to attend the above events should call the gallery office at 312-2113 in advance. Gallery hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekends. The galleries will be closed for Yom Kippur on Oct. 9.
