OSWEGO -- The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble will join the Oswego Festival Chorus and College Choir for SUNY Oswego's 15th annual Feast of Carols at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 103 W. Seventh St. in Oswego.
Each group will perform holiday music in a variety of musical styles. The College Choir will perform Dave Brubeck's "Gloria" and a setting of "O Magnum Mysterium" by contemporary composer Morten Lauridsen. The Festival Chorus will sing two pieces by Venetian composer Giovanni Gabrieli. These pieces will combine the choir with the brass ensemble in antiphonal style, said Julie Pretzat, professor and chair of music at SUNY Oswego.
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble, under the direction of James Spencer, will perform several holiday pieces. All groups will unite for an audience-participation carol sing at the end of the concert.
Admission to the concert is free, but canned or boxed food donations will be collected. For more information, call the SUNY Oswego music department at 312-2130.
