OSWEGO The Oswego State music department will give a Holiday Concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Church of the Resurrection on West Fifth Street in Oswego. (This is a different date from that published on the Artswego calendar.)
The concert will feature several music department ensembles including the Oswego College Choir, Chamber Singers and flute ensemble. The highly selected Oswego Chamber Singers, a group of 11, will perform several Renaissance madrigals including selections by Thomas Morley, Thomas Weelkes, Orlando di Lasso and Heinrich Isaac. The College Choir will join with the flute ensemble in a performance of Gabriel Fauré's "Pavane." The Oswego Children's Chorus, West Baptist Handbell Choir and College Choir will together perform an extended work called "Breath of Angels" by James McCray. This colorful piece sets texts about children and angels by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Robert Browning and Hans Christian Anderson.
The remainder of the program will feature several carol arrangements by John Leavitt and John Rutter, including "I Saw Three Ships," "Here We
Come A Wassailing," "Silent Night" and "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Pianist Cindy Josbena will accompany the choir.
