LEADERSHIP OSWEGO COUNTY TO HONOR GRADUATES, VOLUNTEERS JUNE 7
OSWEGO -- Current and future leaders will be honored during Leadership Oswego County's Adult Class of 2002 Graduation Ceremony on Friday evening, June 7, at The Forum in SUNY Oswego's Hewitt Union.
This year's ceremony marks the 10th anniversary of the Leadership Oswego County program, which is administered by SUNY Oswego's Center for Business and Community Programs. The 20 members of the class of 2002 will join more than 210 alumni of Leadership Oswego County as the community leaders of the future, organizers said.
In addition to the graduation ceremonies, Leadership Oswego County will present the 2002 Community Leadership and Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Peg McKinstry, public outreach and education coordinator for Oswego County's Department of Solid Waste and Recycling, will receive this year's Community Leadership Award. She was selected for her active leadership role in the community through organizations including the Central New York Alzheimer's Association, United Way of Oswego County, Oswego YMCA, Oswego County Historical Society, Oswego Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting Committee and the Oswego High School Reunion Committee.
Mary Dorsey, a 1995 graduate of Leadership Oswego County, will receive the Leadership Oswego County Distinguished Alumni Award. Dorsey, a personnel associate at SUNY Oswego, has been involved in the operations of Oswego's Harborfest since the event's inception. She currently is second vice president of Harborfest's board, serves on the board of the Ladies Home and volunteers for many other community activities.
"We are happy to be honoring two such deserving community leaders as Peg and Mary," Leadership Oswego County Director Nancy Bellow said. "They both truly exemplify the values of Leadership Oswego County."
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, followed by dinner. Cost is $20 per person and advance registration is required.
