OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego's Tyler Art Gallery will present the 38th annual Juried Student Art Exhibition and the Master of Arts Thesis Exhibition from April 7 to 25.
The public is invited to a reception for the artists from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 6, in Tyler Hall. During this time, several students will be recognized for their achievement in graphics, creative work in the fine arts area, service to the art department, and outstanding grade point average. Selected work on exhibition will be honored through purchase awards.
Sponsored by the Student Association Art Exhibition Committee, the Juried Student Art Exhibition will feature recent original art work in the media of photography, ceramics, painting, graphic design, drawing, sculpture and mixed media.
The annual art competition is open to any undergraduate student enrolled at SUNY Oswego. Invited jurors select the exhibited works from among 250 to 300 entries. This year's jurors are Allyn Stewart, artist and faculty member at Cazenovia College and Syracuse University, and Drew Hill, graphic designer of Drew Hill Associates.
Opening concurrently with the juried exhibition will be the Master of Arts Thesis Exhibition. Candidates for the master of arts degree must present an exhibition of their work as part of their theses.
Participating students will be Sara Leubner, exhibiting graphics; Tara McClung, exhibiting graphics and jewelry; Rebecca Mello Eagan, showing her photography; and Peter Sou-Yue Shui, displaying his graphics.
Exhibitions and programs presented by Tyler Art Gallery are free and open to the public. Persons with disabilities who need assistance to attend any gallery event should contact the gallery at 312-2113.
Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekends. Tyler Art Gallery will be closed during Easter weekend, April 14 and 15.
