HISPANIC MAGAZINE HONORS SUNY OSWEGO
OSWEGO -- Saludos Hispanos magazine has recognized SUNY Oswego for its commitment to diversity by bestowing its Publisher's Salute to Honored Educators of Distinction Award on the college.
"We know it is a commitment that starts at the top with (President Deborah F.) Stanley and is the mission of your entire organization," wrote Rosemarie Garcia-Solomon, publisher of the California-based magazine.
Oswego was one of three SUNY campuses recognized. The others were Brockport and New Paltz. In all, about 160 colleges from around the nation received recognition.
About 3 percent of SUNY Oswego's undergraduates are identified as Hispanic. The college has determined diversity goals in its strategic plan, "Engagement 2000."
