STANLEY NAMED TO AASCU NOMINATING COMMITTEE
OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley was elected recently to the nominating committee of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. Her term on the nine-member committee will run through November 2005.
AASCU's primary function of facilitating communication between member institutions and policymakers is an important one, Stanley said. The nominating committee is responsible for preparing the annual slate of nominees for the organization's board of directors.
"I am very pleased to be appointed to this important post," Stanley said. "Given the challenges facing state colleges in upcoming years, I think this organization is more vital than ever."
Stanley's appointment reflects her "many contributions to the work of AASCU over the years," said Christina Bitting, AASCU's vice president for membership services.
AASCU is made up of more than 425 public colleges and universities and university systems across the United States and its territories. Their combined enrollments of nearly 3.5 million students represents more than half of all students enrolled in the nationšs public four-year institutions, according to the organization's Web site.
