OSWEGO -- The campus will not open a temporary path through the Tyler-Mahar hall plaza deck construction project for February and part of March.

Members of the college's Facilities Management Department reviewed the impacts and benefits with the Student Association and President's Council in late November and received positive feedback to the notion of not opening the area until it is completed this summer.

The decision was communicated to the west campus residence halls.

The contractor will begin work again in mid-March and any re-opened path would have had to be closed then, said Tom Simmonds, director of facilities management.

Simmonds added that snow removal on the proposed pathway would be hindered by the lack of snow storage space, removal equipment size and the inability to use de-icing salt on the new concrete.
