LYONS JOINS SUNY OSWEGO LEADERSHIP
OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego recently welcomed Nicholas Lyons aboard as its new vice president for administration and finance.
Lyons comes to Oswego from the position of assistant vice president for administration at SUNY New Paltz, where his responsibilities have included maintaining the day-to-day financial operation of that college since 1997.
He has worked in the SUNY system since 1978, starting as an office supervisor for the Research Foundation. His positions in SUNY System Administration have included university internal control officer in the Office of the University Controller (1994 to 1997) and budget analyst in the Office of Finance and Business (1986 to 1994).
At Oswego, he oversees areas that include finance, student accounts, human resources, environmental health and safety, physical plant, technology and purchasing.
SUNY Oswego Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Joe Grant, who chaired the search committee, said the group unanimously recommended Lyons "because he brings to Oswego excellent budgeting and financial experience from both a systemwide and campus perspective."
For his part, Lyons liked what he saw at Oswego. "My impression of the staff was that it is fairly similar to the administration at New Paltz," he said. "The administration here emphasizes collaboration and has a real sense of community."
