AUCTION TO SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ART DEPARTMENT
OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego's 2002 Art Auction scholarship fund-raiser will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, in the Tyler Hall north gallery.
The admission-free event will begin with a preview reception at 5 p.m. The auction will start after 5:30 p.m. with Bernie Brzostek presiding.
The majority of the artwork to be auctioned has been donated by faculty, staff and alumni of SUNY Oswego's art department. Other donors include Aurora Studios, the river's end bookstore (which requests this lowercase spelling) and Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will go to the Art Department Annual Student Award Fund, said Tyler Art Gallery Director David Kwasigroh.
"For many years, the art department has given monetary awards to deserving students," Kwasigroh said. "These scholarships are funded by donations and funds collected from the annual Art Auction."
The artwork up for bid will be displayed in the Tyler Hall lobby the week preceding the auction, he said.
The auction will feature a cash bar, student musical performers and "wonderful food," Kwasigroh said. "This event will be an evening full of food, drink, music and, of course, art."

The auction will be complemented by a blues-with-strings performance by Bob Walsh and the Allard String Quartet the same evening at 8 p.m. in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre.
