OSWEGO -- Mary Schoeler joined SUNY Oswego as chief technology officer Nov. 26.
She comes the new position from Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, where she was manager of user support in the university's Information Technology Services.
During her seven years at Fort Wayne, Schoeler oversaw large-scale development of technological infrastructure. Her biggest goal there is one she also will focus on at Oswego as well -- providing top-rate customer service.
As CTO at Oswego, she oversees Computer Information Services, which has five main components -- Administrative Technologies, Information Technologies, Network Services, Technology Business Services and Technology User Support.
"One of the biggest challenges is to bring all of the pieces of technology together to better serve everybody," Schoeler said. "We have many strong components (at Oswego), but we need to pull assets together to make things easier for the user."
Schoeler holds a master's degree in professional communication studies from Purdue and a bachelor's in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
