OSWEGO -- The winning photos and entries from the Fall 2000 Rice Creek Associates amateur photography contest are on display at Oswego State's Rice Creek Field Station through January.
The public is invited to view the display during field station hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, and to attend the open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 when awards will be presented.
John Sagert won first place for his photo titled "Harvest." Second Place went to "Survivor" by Graham Groat.
Third place was a tie between "Autumnal Alchemy" by Daniel Distler and "Vervain Mallow" by Terri Groves.
Honorable mention went to "Blue Heron" and "Green Heron" by Sagert, "Milkweed" and "Reaching toward Heaven" by Distler, an untitled photo by Groat and "Shadows of the Forest" by Timothy Reed.
The first place winner will receive a $50 gift certificate donated by Gentile's Camera Shop, and second place, a $25 gift certificate donated by the Picture Connection. The third place winners will each receive $20 courtesy of Rice Creek Associates. Certificates will be given to the honorable mentions.
Contest sponsors were Gentile's Camera Shop and The Picture Connection. Judges were Dr. Joseph LeFevre of the Oswego State faculty, Susan Gallagher of Gentile's Camera Shop and Pete Mahan from the Hannibal High School art department.
