The provost at Oswego oversees all the instructional and academic programs
of the college, including the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of
Business, School of Education, facilities such as Penfield Library, and
administrative offices such as the Registrar's Office and Office of
Institutional Research and Assessment.
The provost's staff administers a number of programs and
services that support the academic mission of the university. Among
these are faculty enhancement grants for research and scholarly activity;
recognition awards for excellence in teaching and service; professional
development activities for faculty and staff; and special initiatives that
encompass the entire curriculum administered within the academic division.
The provost's staff administers the annual Chancellor's Award nomination and
selection process that recognizes excellence in teaching, librarianship,
faculty service, and scholarly and creative activity. Students, faculty and
staff are invited to nominate worthy candidates early in the Fall term, with
selections announced by the Chancellor of the State University of New York late
in the Spring term.
