1. Updates on focus group visits, website, etc.
a. The Faculty survey is posted on the web and we have had 32 responses. We have an article coming out in the Update reminding people about the survey and the visioning project.
b. The student survey is almost ready to go on the website. We made a few changes. An e-mail will go out to all students. We will also set up table tents with the survey information around campus.
2. Report from reps to SUNY IT library
a. Most thought the building was very attractive.
b. The building did not have wireless internet, but did have many connections throughout.
c. The student work group areas were very nice with glass fronts. Also, there was a nice faculty lounge with a fireplace.
3. Report from reps to Academic Libraries meeting
a. Susan distributed handouts from the meeting.
b. The theme of the meeting was information commons—a new way to look at delivering library services. IC’s frequently includes IT services with library services, also group spaces, media centers, etc. IC’s combine service points, and look at services from a student’s point of view.
c. Focus on how students’ learn. College students are doing computer work, IMing and listening to music all at the same time. How do we build libraries for them?
4. Discussion of any feedback from focus groups
a. Handed out the compiled responses from the focus groups and the results from the online survey. Please read before the next meeting in two weeks.
b. Please make a note in the margins if there appears to be a theme for the answers. We will use software to help aggregate the responses.
5. Retreat option in January
a. Susan proposed a half-day retreat (9 am – 1 pm) the week of January 17th to review the results of the surveys (including the indexed information). The 17th is the first choice, but let Darlene know about the 18th and 19th as potential dates.
b. Please send the times that you cannot meet next semester to Darlene in the next week so we can schedule our spring meetings.
6. Completion of tour of library
a. Toured the basement and third floor of the library.
