* Reminder - integrity is prominently mentioned in the new campus goals,
Oswego's VIEWS as well as in the Graduation Outcomes to be discussed and voted
on in Faculty Assembly this fall. Encourage your FA reps to support the
outcome, "Recognize, value, and uphold high personal and professional ethical
* Review the minutes of April 25, 2007 and note summer goals not achieved:
the educational component, tips for faculty and social norming. These are our
primary tasks for this fall.
* We went over the powerpoint presentation of results of last years academic
integrity survey, for presentation next Tuesday, September 11. There will be a
followup open forum on October 2, 2007 during college hour. We hope faculty
will discuss this data/report in the interim and return to provide comments,
ideas, suggestions, etc. at the open forum meeting.
* We've already been asked for "the data" from the survey. Beyond the
powerpoint presentation, what should be made available? We should not release
the open-ended comments from students and faculty. We did not warn folks that
their words might be made public and even though there is no way to connect
specific comments with specific individuals, nor to the other answers by that
person, it seems unreasonable to make such data widely available. The results
of a content analysis of the data would be a different matter.
The reports of national and Oswego data for students and faculty could be
made available, either as Word files, .pdf files (Adobe Acrobat), or as
webpages. It needs to be cleaned up a bit to include more specifics in the
questions (some context is missing, for example "During the past year" or
"During the past three years").
This question should be bumped up to the Provost/President for approval.
Bozak will contact both to get guidance.
* Our task is to start to let the discussion ensue over the next month and
in the meantime begin work on the educational component and the faculty tips
