myDropbox, which used to be available for institutional license, has been purchased by Blackboard. There are no institutional licenses available for the product, only individual licenses for the standalone use. Helen Knowles uses this product and we can get a short demo next meeting.
Our policy statements should be general enough to be applied to any PDS that faculty use, whether Turnitin, myDropbox, or any of the various free PDSs.
The use of Turnitin shows that we will need to provide significant instruction to both faculty and students on its use. In particular, care must be taken to evaluate each of the text matches. Many are citation matches. While this can be turned off, it also shows errors in citation matches, which would be a help to students learning to correctly cite a work and correctly provide the work's reference.
