Invitation to Faculty to Participate in the Academic Integrity Survey

To all SUNY Oswego faculty

SUNY Oswego has been invited by the Center for Academic Integrity, which has its home in the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University, and by Professor Donald McCabe of Rutgers University to take part in a survey to get the views of faculty about the current state of academic integrity at the colleges and universities in our nation.

This is an important national survey and it is important to our institution that they have invited us to take part. The survey will provide us with the opportunity to assess student and faculty attitudes and behaviors related to academic integrity on our campus and to commit ourselves to the value of academic integrity.

This survey is similar in design to studies that Professor McCabe has conducted over the past 16 years at more than 90 schools and involving more than 14,000 faculty members.

We are asking that you complete the web-based survey, which will take about 10 – 15 minutes. It asks how you view this important issue and how you believe your colleagues think about academic integrity.

We want to emphasize that no one other than Professor McCabe will have access to the data you submit, so we can assure you that your responses will be treated confidentially. If you have any questions about any aspect of this study, you may contact Professor McCabe at

Dr. David Bozak is responsible for coordinating the survey on our campus. If you have any questions about any aspect of this study, please call him at 312.2156 or email him at

We encourage you to answer all of the questions frankly and honestly since the results will be of little value unless they are accurate.

The survey can be found at and is self-explanatory.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
