Multicultural Program Initiative:
Cathy Santos, newly appointed Associate Provost for Multicultural Opportunities and Programs, briefed the Council on diversity initiatives in planning and currently underway. She described her new role and received input from members regarding opportunities to moved the entire institution toward achievement of the goals she has set for her office. Cathy will meet with deans and directors individually to follow up on many of the ideas presented during this discussion.

Annual Goals:
The Council continued its work toward refining annual goals for the Division for the current academic year. The focus will be on those objectives that are achievable before the end of the spring semester. A final draft of the goals will be published in late September. Goals set by individual units will be forwarded to the Provost by the beginning of October.

Mileage policy:
The Council considered the latest draft of a policy statement on mileage reimbursement for faculty assigned to teach at locations other than their primary workplace. The statement, a clarification of New York State SUNY Policy regarding work-related travel, will be reviewed by President’s Council.
