Announcements:
Cathy Santos, Associate Provost for Multicultural Opportunities and Programs, will present a workshop titled ‘Mentoring for New Faculty and Professional Staff at Oswego State’ on Wednesday, May 21st from 1:30PM to 2:45PM. The workshop, co-presented by Marta Santiago, Director of Human Resources, is part of the Spring Breakout 2008 series of workshops to be offered next week.
The Office of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions is working on a summer programs market study being conducted by Research & Marketing Strategies, Inc. of Baldwinsville. The company will conduct interviews with campus administrators and others over the next few weeks.
Fall 2008 Retreat:
The annual retreat to set goals for the new academic year will be expanded to include all members of the Academic Affairs Council, department chairs and program directors. The retreat will be held on Thursday, August 21st. Additional information will be distributed to participants during the summer.
Assigned Time:
The Council reviewed a list of reduced teaching load assignments for Fall 2007 and Spring 2008. Deans will review the list for accuracy and consistent policy.
Fall 2008 Freshmen enrollment update:
Joseph Grant, Vice President for Enrollment Management, presented data indicating strong first-year enrollment for the coming academic year based on paid deposits. Several programs, particularly in the sciences, have seen significant growth in applications this year over last year. We discussed areas that seem to be increasing in demand.
