Emergency Management Planning:
University Police Chief Cindy Adam presented an update on the campus Emergency Action Plan. The plan is being updated to incorporate procedures developed by SUNY’s Emergency Management Taskforce. An emergency procedures booklet with guidelines for responding to potential emergency situations will be distributed to all faculty, staff and students shortly.
Chief Adam indicated the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA.gov) offers free online emergency planning courses that lead to certifications managed through the SUNY Oswego Office of Environmental Health and Safety. The entire campus community is eligible to access and complete FEMA’s online courses.
Graduate Enrollment Strategic Planning:
Graduate Dean David King presented an overview of a strategic plan for expanding current enrollment and programs in graduate studies. The plan seeks to increase enrollment by part-time students and boost awareness of SUNY Oswego graduate programs generally. An Assistant Director of Graduate Studies has been hired to develop promotional materials and augment recruiting efforts.
Online Faculty Activity Report:
The Council continued its discussion of modifications to the online faculty activity report. The Provost will distribute a memo to faculty regarding changes and how they affect the use of report data.
Engaging Challenge:
The Council continued its planning for the college sesquicentennial by reasserting its commitment to the new plan entitled ‘Engaging Challenge.’ Suggestions for new initiatives include expanded support for student tutoring and mentoring; expanded international travel and study for students and faculty; expanded professional development opportunities for faculty; more collaboration with external entities. Council members should solicit their units for ideas of projects to support the sesquicentennial plan.
