Academic Affairs Council
Minutes for September 5, 2007

Present: Susan Coultrap-McQuin (presiding), Michael Ameigh (recording). Annual Goals:
The Council developed a list of measures to gauge progress in meeting seven project goals for the 2007-2008 academic year previously identified by the Provost’s Council.  The draft document incorporating elements of the discussion will be distributed to faculty and staff for discussion.  Final suggestions are due in late September.

Alignment of Academic Affairs Goals to Sesquicentennial Plan:
The Council unanimously adopted a proposal to make a statement of commitment to sesquicentennial projects and activities that will define progress during 2007-2008 in meeting objectives of the College sesquicentennial plan.

Announcements:
- Author Anthony Grooms will be on campus October 2nd to discuss his book, Bombingham (Oswego Reading Initiative selection for 2007-2008).

- The second annual Connections symposium sponsored by the Women’s Studies program and the Center for Business and Community Development will feature Oswego graduate Joni Daniels, author of Power Tools For Women: Plugging Into the Essential Skills for Work and Life.  Carrie Lazarus, co-anchor on WSYR, Channel 9, will also appear.

- ARTSwego and the Office of International Education and Programs will present the dance troupe Jane Comfort and Company September 18th at 7:30PM. A College Hour performance is also planned.

- The ALANA Student Leadership Conference will be held Sept 20th to 22nd.

- Penfield Library is planning activities related to Constitution Week, September 17-23rd.

- Oswego’s Transfer and Transition Conference will be held October 12th. Approximately 75 participants are expected to attend.

- Volunteers are still needed to assist with an event to be held in Breitbeck Park, Oswego, on September 21st in support of Children’s Wellness Week.  For information, contact Scott Harrison in the Office of Intramurals and Recreation.
