Announcements:
-Wintersession enrollment is ahead of last year.
- Penfield Library's Display to Archives reception will be held today from 4-5:30PM in Lake Effect Cafe.
- The Blue Jupiter concert will be held tonight in the Hewitt Union Ballroom.
- Requests for College Hour program scheduling for the spring semester should be sent to the office of the Associate Provost as soon as possible. A number of events have already been scheduled, a list of which will be distributed in the near future.
- The team visit for the NCATE review of the School of Education has been rescheduled for November, 2007.
- Friday night is the opening of the BFA art exhibit in the Tyler Art Gallery. A celebration of the Art Department's recent notice of accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) will be held concurently.
- A search is underway for Dean of the School of Business. A search for Director of the Office of Learning Support will get underway tomorrow.
Student Opinion Survey (SOS):
The Council discussed comparison data drawn from results of the recent Student Opinion Survey implemented across SUNY. A number of areas were identified as in need of particular attention. A subcommittee is being formed to investigate the data further for presentation to the campus.
Avian Influenza Pandemic Planning Update:
Lanny Karns, chair of the subcommittee charged with recommending contingency measures in the case of a possible pandemic flu outbreak, reported that institutional planning continues to evolve and that additional information is on its way from SUNY. He will provide updates to the Council as they become available.
Instructional Technical Support requests:
The Council discussed requests from units for additional technical support positions that would be instituted over the next five years. A number of areas were identified as projecting the need for additional technical support in the future. This issue will be placed on the agenda for further discussion at a future meeting.
