Technology Support Needs: The Council discussed a list of proposed technology support staff positions that would be very helpful to departments in the next five years. Existing technology support staffing patterns were reviewed in light of anticipated needs. There will be additional discussion at a future Council meeting.
Teaching assignments and reassigned time: Reports on faculty reassigned time for the current semester should be sent to the Provost's Office by the deans.
Mileage: The Council discussed circumstances under which faculty may receive reimbursement for mileage when traveling to and from campus or remote locations for the purpose of teaching classes. A draft of a policy statement is being prepared to discuss at a future meeting.
Student Opinion Survey: The Council discussed results of the most recent Student Opinion Survey. Data was provided in a format that allowed comparison with results from surveys conducted at the other SUNY comprehensive colleges. We will distribute all data when we have the breakdown by student levels.
American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) presentation: Susan previewed a presentation on international education she will make at the AASCU meeting in San Antonio, Texas, next week. She pointed to a number of efforts underway to enhance internationalization of the campus at SUNY Oswego.
Sabbaticals: A list of approved sabbaticals for the 2007-2008 academic year has been forwarded to the President for approval.
Announcements: -Penfield Library has digitized all editions of the student newspaper Oswegonian back to 1935. These files can be searched using keyword protocols.
-NPR music critic Tim Riley will speak during College Hour on Wednesday, February 7th.
- Festa Fellowships up to $10,000 each are available to graduate students to cover expenses related to leadership experiences with professionals in workplace settings. Interested students and faculty are urged to contact the Graduate Office for more details.
