The Council discussed the possible lease of a metro site that would enhance access to certain degree and certificate programs and contract training in the greater Syracuse area.  The Education Center in Phoenix is currently operating at capacity and there are new opportunities with a metro site. David King, Dean of Graduate Studies, and Yvonne Petrella, Director of Continuing Education, are leading this exploration. We discussed a mission statement for the project.

DSI applications and folders:

The Council discussed procedures for discretionary salary increase (DSI) deliberations upcoming in the fall semester.  The Provost reiterated that faculty wishing to be considered for DSI will have until June 30th to input data into the online faculty activity report system.

DSI procedures for part-time faculty and non-teaching professional staff were also addressed. A memo will be sent with reminders to all faculty.

Annual goals:

The Council reviewed recommendations from the Academic Affairs Council regarding the possible revision of divisional goals and commitments established in the 2005-2006 academic year.  The Provost will redraft a summary based of those goals and incorporating suggestions by Council members.

Vacancy notices:

Faculty search notices from a number of colleges and universities were examined in a discussion regarding a standard template for search postings on the web.  The Provost is in discussions with the Director of Human Resources in this regard.  A prototype will be presented at a future meeting.
