Diversity Brochure for Candidate and Student Recruitment:
The Council discussed a draft of a brochure being prepared by a student in graphic design for distribution to candidates seeking faculty and staff positions and for recruitment of international students. The focus is describing ways the campus community and surrounding region provide opportunities for interactions with ethnically diverse populations and cultures. A revised version will be forthcoming.
Format for Final Reports from Units:
The Provost handed out for discussion a format for the submission of information to be included in the annual Division of Academic Affairs report. She indicated that departments and programs reporting to deans and other administrators may use whatever format their units choose, but that information coming forward to the Provost's level should follow the indicated format which is directly linked to goals and objectives set by the Academic Affairs Council. Reports are due to the Provost by June 1, 2006.
Program Initiatives:
The Council continued its discussion of possible academic program initiatives for future development. A number of possibilities were proposed and discussed involving the schools of Business and Education as well as the College of Arts and Sciences. The Provost asked members to reflect on the ideas presented for further discussion at a future Council meeting.
