Members of the Council described accomplishments in their areas during the 2005-2006 academic year. These included:
- Successful implementation of the online faculty activity report
- Extraordinarily high volume of internships and community service by students
- Publication of program brochures to enhance graduate recruitment
- Highly acclaimed arts programming that drew large, enthusiastic audiences
- Schedule 25, a new space allocation software program to be implemented across campus
- Library Visioning Committee engaged the entire campus in a dialogue about Penfield Library's future
- Excellent community-college partnerships with business and industry
- Added 23 technology enhanced classrooms
- Growing faculty involvement in the living and learning center environment
- Best ever participation in the Oswego Reading Initiative
- Arts and Sciences chairs working in clusters to enhance administration of the curriculum
- Two faculty in the School of Education received student advisement awards
- Ninety percent of Equal Opportunity Program students enrolled in the fall semester returned for spring 2006
- The Provost's Award for Excellence in Teaching by Part-time Faculty attracted seven nominations and excellent support for nominees from students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- The Campaign for Oswego is at 87 percent of its goal; Annual Fund is at 102 percent of its goal.
Planning Issues: Getting a Head Start on 2006-2007:
The Council discussed goals and objectives it had set for the 2005-2006 academic year, focusing on whether its commitments are well-articulated. Members broke into smaller groups to respond to a call for refinements of the current planning document in order to inform a draft of a statement for the chair's retreat in the fall semester.
Presentations:
Kerry Dorsey and Mary Canale of the Development Office addressed the Council regarding the need for good communication between that office and others on campus interacting with alumni.
Starr Knapp, Office of Disability Services, and Drew Hill, campus Webmaster, presented a prototype of a web form for capturing information related to course syllabi that would be helpful to students with disabilities.
