Catalyst Project (integrative learning):

Sara Varhus, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Rhonda Mandel, Associate Provost, led a discussion regarding the Catalyst Project, an initiative to promote integrated learning in specific areas of study with that obtained elsewhere in the curriculum and through extra-curricular experiences.  Deans Varhus, Markert and Associate Provost Mandel did a presentation on Catalyst at a recent conference of the American Association of Colleges and Universities.

Educational Planning Center:

Rhonda Mandel, Paul Roodin, Kathy Evans, and Michelle Bandla reported on planning for the Educational Planning Center (EPC) to be located in Swetman Hall.  This collaboration between the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs will bring together the offices of Career Services, Experience-based Education, Student Advisement Center, Service Learning and Community Services, First Year Programs, and the Transfer Coordinator.  The idea is to provide integrated services for students in one location on the natural cross-campus pathway envisioned in the Campus Concept plan.
