1.  Provost Opening remarks:  1)  Search for Interim Research Director to begin this week. Deans are asked to serve on the committee and to propose one faculty from each division and one director in Academic Division for a search committee.   Target date for appointment: October 15th. 2)  All members were asked to continue to review appointment and budget data for accuracy.  3)  Procedures of the Opening Breakfast were reviewed.  Rhonda suggested that we also introduce new staff in the division.

2. Annual Goals:  We began a discussion of annual goals for division for the year.  Before discussing the draft suggested by the deans and Rhonda, Council members suggested other areas for goal setting, including:  Technology Renewal; Future of Graduate Studies and ORSP/Research Office;  Small class initiative; Academic honesty; Assessment issues, including program assessment.  The group discussed goals related to integrative learning, faculty development, and academic space.  Members were asked to draft goals for other areas that have been suggested.

3. "Annual Faculty Activity Report":  We discussed procedures and expectations explained in the letter.  It will be circulated one more time to members for comment.

4. Confidential search request list for 05-06 was distributed with instructions for deans and directors making requests to be prepared to discuss them at next bi-weekly meeting with the Provost.

5. CourseSpace update: Deadline for submitting list of participants for Spring 05 to SUNY-LE is September 15th.  List will be prepared by Sept 10. Call for participation will be sent to deans to distribute to chairs.  Announcement will direct interested faculty to a web site where they will be able to input expressions of interest and related information. List of respondents will be given to deans September 13th-14th for validation and control before a final list is submitted to SUNY.  Fifty-four courses are scheduled to use CourseSpace this fall.
