Announcements:
Mission Review II planning is underway. SUNY interlocutors to visit campus Tuesday, June 7th.
Budget planning for 2005-06 is also underway. The Provost's Office will distribute allocation schedules to deans and directors for review.
Susan reported that the recent CIT conference was highly informative and that SUNY Oswego was well represented. Oswego presentations included reports on the Hybrid Course Taskforce and Penfield Library's networked resources.
The hybrid pilot oversight committee met last week; Rameen Mohammadi, Computer Science, will chair. The library "visioning" committee met; Susan is chairing.
Deans were asked to assist in promoting the Fall Teaching Symposium event. Departments have been asked to present poster sessions on innovative teaching approaches.
Theatre department has received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).
Institute of International Education (IIE) has rated SUNY Oswego tenth in the nation among comprehensive masters institutions in the number of students in its international education programs for 2003-2004.
An Academic Affairs Council retreat is planned for August 17th. More information will be forthcoming.
New faculty orientation day is August 22nd. Please mark calendars.
The college recently signed an exchange agreement with the international film school in Paris in support of the cinema studies program.
Discussions:
Meeting schedule for 2004-2005: We continued to discuss having both a Provost's Council and an Academic Affairs Council. It was decided that the Academic Affairs Council will be reconstituted to meet twice per semester. A meeting schedule will be distributed to individuals invited to participate.
Vision for Information Technology: A discussion regarding the role of academic affairs in preparing students in the use of information technology continued.
