1. A debriefing was held regarding the recent campus visits/presentations by finalists for the position of Dean of Graduate Studies.
2. Good news from units:
Kathy Evans: Orientation staff has been hired, program planning is underway. Recently seven Oswego students received Chancellor's Award of Excellence.
Tom Darvill: area committees are working on their final reports.
Lanny Karns: Recent School of Business open house was a great success.
Mehran Nojan: we have sent information to US News; expect the ranking shortly.
Linda Rae Markert: Suzanne Gilmour, chair, Education Administration, and Susan Camp, chair, Vocational Teacher Preparation, were authors of an article included in the recent edition of Academic Leader, a prominent national newsletter.
Rhonda: QUEST will feature 130 presentations this year and an excellent keynote.
Yvonne: SUNY Learning Network (SLN) and SUNY International Education are working with faculty and campuses on a "Cross National Project" to develop more interaction between campuses and international students and faculty.
David King: Campus capital campaign launch will occur in the Library tomorrow.
End of the year budgets:
Provost expects OTPS budgets in units to be balanced so transfer excess charges to IFRs if necessary. Any issues in TS need to be discussed with Mike or Susan.
Information Technology Planning:
A discussion was held regarding the need to plan for purchasing and maintaining instructional technology in Academic Affairs. A variety of issues were raised regarding how such a process should work, who should be involved, and how a policy should be devised and implemented.
Hybrid taskforce recommendations:
Hybrid Course taskforce did a great job. We began a discussion of its recommendations. A variety of issues were raised regarding how and under what circumstances hybrid courses might be integrated into the curriculum. This discussion will continue.
