Provost's Council
Minutes for November 24, 2004

Present: Susan Coultrap-McQuin (presiding), Michael Ameigh (recording), Mary Beth Bell, Tom Darvill, Lanny Karns, David King, Rhonda Mandel, Maria Nakamura, Walter Opello, Yvonne Petrella, Mary Schoeler, Sara Varhus.

Announcements:

- Annual reception for faculty authors will be held at Penfield Library on December 2nd,  4-5:30PM.  Approximately 45 faculty will be recognized.

- SCAP proposals have been collected.  A committee is reviewing them.

1- Taskforce for Academic Quality (TFAQ)

TFAQ has requested that a Provost's committee on academic integrity be formed to assess the extent to which academic dishonesty is a problem on campus and, if it is found to be a problem, identify ways to counter this trend.  Provost Council concurred that such a committee should be formed.

2- Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT)

CELT will move over the winter break [early spring] from Lanigan to Penfield Library (rooms adjacent to Lake Effect Cafe). CELT will eventually move to the second floor of Penfield per a proposal discussed earlier this year.  Campus Concept Committee has requested a draft of this plan be presented at its next meeting.  We discussed ideas to be included in a handout for them.

3- Space:

We discussed current plans for moves. Assumptions include:  we ought to get people as close to their final space as possible rather than moving people to temporary space. A great delay in funding has meant that we need to be moving very quickly.  We want to do what is best for the college.
