May 30, 2006
I am writing to confirm the expectations related to the on-line Faculty Activity Report and the DSI process this year.
Faculty members will need to complete the on-line version of the Faculty Activity Report for 2005-2006 to be considered for DSI in the fall. Faculty members who have not completed the Faculty Activity Report for 2005-2006 will not be considered. Information must be entered into the on-line form and saved to personal computers by June 30, 2006.
Those who have completed the on-line Faculty Activity Report can submit it in Word format from the information in the on-line report. There is an option in the program for retrieving the information in Word. Mehran Nojan, Institutional Research, can answer your questions about saving in Word format.
Part-time faculty members were not required to complete the on-line report this year. Therefore, if they wish to apply for DSI, they could enter their information by June 30 into the on-line report and save it to their computers or submit their report in an alternative format specified by their department chairs. Next year they will be required to complete the on-line form for DSI consideration.
This year we will begin a transition to a July 1-June 30 review period from the previous September 1-August 31 dates. Thus, everyone will report on accomplishments up to June 30, 2006. Those faculty members who received a DSI award last year will report on accomplishments since September 1, 2005. Those faculty members who did not receive an award last year may submit all accomplishments for the relevant time period under consideration. Beginning next year we will be on a July 1-June 30 schedule.
Departments may determine what materials will be reviewed for their recommendations. The only materials in the folders to be transmitted to the deans and provost will be:
- Report of activities for 2005-2006 from on-line report submitted
- Current Curriculum Vita
- Personal letter of justification for DSI this year
- Recommendations from personnel committee and department chair
- Any response of the faculty member to the recommendations
Please contact me if you have additional questions. Thank you.
