Notice of assault on campus
A student walking across campus toward his western residence hall early Sunday morning was assaulted by a group of about five males, University Police reported this morning. He has been evaluated in the emergency room of Oswego Hospital and released.
The incident occurred in the Hewitt-Penfield quad about 3 a.m. The victim told officers that the group approached him aggressively. A few words were exchanged, he turned in response to a tap on his shoulder and was punched in the face, knocking him unconscious.
The victim did not recognize anyone in the group, and the identity of the assailants is unknown at this time. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact SUNY Oswego's University Police at 315-312-5555.
Members of the campus community are reminded to always be mindful of their safety on campus and to avoid walking alone at night.
