The Department of Residence Life and Housing at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a ten-month live-in position as a Residence Hall Director.  SUNY Oswego is proud of its commitment to being a predominantly residential campus.  All residence halls are staffed by full-time professionals who foster a positive and dynamic educational experience.

Compensation:  Starting salary is $33,076, plus full New York State benefits package. A furnished apartment is provided. In order to facilitate interaction with residents and faculty, a meal plan is provided to directors and immediate family/qualifying domestic partners when classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters. Summer employment opportunities may be available.

Date of Appointment:  July 2, 2015 - May 31, 2016

Description of Responsibilities:  Overall development and coordination of a student learner-centered living environment, inclusive of student development, administration and other departmental expectations. Typical activity includes staff selection, supervision and training, individual and group advisement, development of educational programs and community development activities, delivery of an educationally-focused student conduct process, and facility management. Directors of program halls and larger traditional halls also supervise graduate student staff.

These are live-in positions in coeducational residential communities.  First year appointments are 11-month contracts with a start date of July 2, 2015. Subsequent appointments are 10-months (August 1 through May 31).

In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:  Master's degree REQUIRED prior to start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:  A Master's degree in College Student Personnel or closely related field is preferred.  Demonstrated understanding of the co-academic mission of a residence life program (including implementation of learning outcomes); ability to develop a community which promotes academic success and commitment to diversity; training and skills in supervision and group dynamics; experience in student development programming.
