Assistant Professor - Digital/Broadcast Media & Audio Production

The Department of Communication Studies at the State University of New York College at Oswego invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Digital and Broadcast Media.
Review Date: Review of applications will begin January 4, 2012 and will continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Date of Appointment: August 2012.
Description of Responsibilities: Candidate will teach in the areas of broadcast media production (with an emphasis in audio production), and digital media programming and management. Other responsibilities include participation in the management of department media services and operations, student advisement, production of scholarly or creative media works, and participation in service activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidate must have an earned M.A., M.F.A. or Ph.D. (ABD accepted) in an appropriate field related to mass communication at the time of appointment. Candidate must have previous undergraduate teaching experience and significant professional experience in video production/post production and audio design/post production, especially nonlinear editors such as Final Cut Pro 7 (and other FCP Studio software), Avid Media Composer, and Pro Tools 9. Additional expertise in After Effects, web development and design, interactive design, mobile media, social media, or other emergent media applications is expected.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with innovative teaching approaches, online course delivery, and mentoring of student media organizations. Ability to incorporate issues of gender, race/ethnicity, and/or comparative global perspectives into course materials, as well as interest in teaching a diverse population of students.

Description of the Department: Communication Studies is the largest department in the School of Communication, Media and the Arts, serving approximately 800 majors with 36 full and part-time faculty. The department offers majors in public relations, broadcasting, communication studies, and journalism. We also offer an online degree completion program in Broadcasting and Mass Communication and a graduate certificate program in Integrated Media.
