The Department of Communication Studies at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Mass Communication.

Review Date: Review of applications will begin November 1, 2012 and will continue until the position is filled.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Date of Appointment: August 26, 2013

Description of Responsibilities:  Candidates will teach a variety of courses including Introduction to Mass Communication, Children, Women and Minority in the Media, History of American Radio and Television and other courses in the candidate's specialty area. Candidates also will engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity. Active involvement in advisement and department service is expected.

Required Qualifications: Terminal degree in mass communication and/or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: University-level teaching experience.  Evidence of communication-related scholarship and/or creative activity.

Description of Department: Communication Studies is the largest department in the School of Communication, Media and the Arts, serving approximately 835 majors with 43 full and part-time faculty. The department offers majors in public relations, broadcasting, communication studies, and journalism. We also offer an online degree completion program in Broadcasting and Mass Communication and a graduate certificate program in Integrated Media. We are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education and we are committed to providing students with relevant interdisciplinary experiences. Facilities include new digital production and news studios, new media production labs, high-definition editing suites, WRVO-FM, a NPR station and student FM and television operations.
