Associate Director

Office of Career Services

The Office of Career Services at the State University of New York at Oswego is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Career Services.  This is a 12-month position in Career Services in the Compass at SUNY Oswego.  Working with the Director and other campus partners, the Associate Director will develop a comprehensive strategic plan for developing and strengthening relationships between employers and the College community.   The Associate Director will establish and enhance partnerships between the College and corporations, public entities and not-for profit organizations in order to expand full-time employment opportunities for SUNY Oswego students and alumni, increase the College's profile and brand in the regional, national and international workforce, manage campus recruitment programs including on-campus interviews, database management and job vacancy tools, and develop systems to organize and maximize internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and minimum of five years of experience in a college career services or related operation.
  • Experience in external outreach in either career services or in recruiting and staffing functions.
  • Experience in strategic goal setting, as well as in the development, implementation and assessment of programs, events, technology and services to reach those goals.
  • Knowledge of regional, national and international job market as well as industry-specific trends.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop professional online and printed resources.
  • Experience working with clients in job search related activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with donors, alumni, employers and other institutional affiliates.
  • Proficiency in use of social media as a recruitment/placement tool and to engage employers, alumni and students.
  • Knowledge of career development theories including trends and issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large data sets related to employers, student and alumni.
  • Experience supervising staff.
